Beginning in 1974, the Cooperativa Agricola Cafetalera San Juan was created with 40 small farm members. Restructuring in 2017 with Felix Garcia, a specialty coffee cupper, breathed new life into the production of diverse and quality coffees from this area. Caranavi coffee farms are isolated high in the Andes and since Bolivia is South America’s only land-locked coffee producer, exporting the coffee over 4000 meter passes to the port of Arica in Chile is both remarkable and formidable.
